About the Middle Tennessee Wrestling Officials Association

The Middle Tennessee Wrestling Officials Association (MTWOA) is dedicated to promoting the sport of wrestling through professional officiating, official development, athlete support, and service to the wrestling community. Our members proudly serve middle school and high school wrestling programs throughout Middle Tennessee, providing fair, consistent, and knowledgeable officiating that helps ensure every match is conducted with integrity, respect, and safety.

Our mission extends far beyond calling matches. We are committed to strengthening the sport at every level by recruiting, training, mentoring, and developing the next generation of wrestling officials. Through comprehensive classroom instruction, on-mat training, mentorship, rule interpretation, and continuing education, we equip both new and experienced officials with the knowledge and confidence to excel on the mat.

MTWOA works in partnership with schools, coaches, athletic directors, tournament directors, and the Tennessee wrestling community to support competitions ranging from dual meets to large-scale tournaments and championship events. Our officials uphold the highest standards of professionalism, consistency, and sportsmanship while serving thousands of student-athletes each season.

Beyond officiating, MTWOA is committed to giving back to the wrestling community through charitable initiatives and outreach programs. We believe every athlete should have the opportunity to compete regardless of financial circumstances. Through donations, fundraising, and community partnerships, we help provide wrestling shoes, headgear, and other essential equipment to athletes and families in need. We also support programs designed to grow wrestling in underserved communities and assist new programs as they establish themselves.

Throughout the year, MTWOA organizes educational clinics, rules meetings, certification classes, mentorship opportunities, fundraising events, and community activities that strengthen relationships within the wrestling family. Our annual golf tournament and other fundraising efforts help generate resources that directly support our charitable programs, official development, and initiatives that benefit wrestling throughout Middle Tennessee.
